3rd Run – Exhausted

Posted on Jun 27, 2011 under Runs | No Comment

I was looking forward to my morning run but after reaching the mile mark my legs started to give way, they felt heavy and I felt tired all over. My body was telling me that I had overdone it and I needed a rest. Trying to double my 2nd run’s distance on my 3rd run, in just 3 days seems a very silly idea in hindsight. I will take a few days rest now and hopefully be re-energized to reach the 3 mile mark on my next run.

As you can see from the Nike+ picture it says I ran 5.39 miles. Sadly this isn’t true, I walked most of it and my average speed was 14.30 minutes per mile.

Nikeplus iPhone app review

Having seen several Facebook status posts from friends that look like this: “ran 4.09 mi on 5/6/2011 at 3:08 PM, 08 May at 11:45 via Nike Application”, I thought it was time to see what all the fuss was about with this Nike+ GPS application. I am so pleased I did, the Nike+ app has turned out to be a great investment, at a tiny price of only £1.19.

At the time of writing this the “Nike+ GPS” app is the third top paid app in the Apple store’s Health & Fitness category, so it isn’t a hidden gem, it already has thousands of happy users. The app currently has a rating of 4 out of 5 stars, out of 130 ratings.

The app uses GPS to track information like distance ran, average speed and time. Registration only takes a couple of minutes and once you’ve registered you can start tracking runs straight away. The app is easy to get to grips with so you don’t need to read any manuals to get running (excuse the pun). You can also sync your Facebook and Twitter accounts, so your race information can automatically be published – great to show off your latest running times to your mates.

The app doesn’t just record your run information it also provides motivational games like Tag, and motivational speeches from famous runners like Paula Radcliffe.

I have been holding my iPhone whilst running to be able to use this app, not ideal I know, but I will soon purchase one of the many iPhone arms bands (aimed specifically at runners) that are available today. Once i’ve started using my iPhone with the arm band i’ll get a review posted asap.

2nd Run – Up hill struggle

Posted on Jun 25, 2011 under Runs | No Comment

Today’s running was literally an up hill struggle, starting a run up a massive hill isn’t a great idea, I felt like giving up once I’d reached the top.

Once I got over the hill my pace got a lot better and I nearly doubled my first run’s distance.

My first Run

My first run was yesterday. At the time the run didn’t seem too strenuous and I actually enjoyed myself which was surprising for my first run in a while. Today was a different story as my whole body is aching. I hope I recover enough in time for tomorrow so I can run again.
